Thank you for your post...We lost our only dog a few months back...
The only thing that has truly helped me through, besides my complete belief that her spirit went on, is a dove. As she got older, and before she began to show signs of an enlarged heart (followed by a collapsed lung and infection that meds could not cure), she began to allow a dove to enter the carport and eat from her food bowl...salmon kibble....I was kinda amazed...I called it 'your birdie'...she really loved sharing her food with it...

I still have about 1/3 bag left...when she died, there was almost a full bag...I have been feeding the bird since losing the dog, as the bird kept coming around... tossing some out to it now and then...feeding it less often now, so that it goes back to foraging for its own food.

Being able to feed the bird has helped...Before she became obviously ill, she basically adopted a dove. geez....she was such a sweet dog...a German Sheppard that basically adopted a dove...I sure miss her. Have to wonder if she went on to be a bird...

We just decorated our tree today...I collect bird ornaments, and the only non-bird ornament on the tree besides a star? ONE cat... I forgot to hang it...seriously...going out to the carport right now to both feed the bird and get the cat ornament...will hang it in honor of your dear kitty...another angel~
