I know what you mean about relief of the diagnosis. For me it was finally knowing what was wrong and that there were ways to improve my life.

You will hear a lot of people talk about DBT which was created by a pdoc who has BPD. There are other treatments that can help. I found that learning all I could about BPD has been helpful to understand why I react to things in the way I do. I have found in a few short months that I am better at dealing with the cycling emotions, not that the emotions are not there but I am better at recognizing them. Not to say that everything is perfect but definitely better.
