Of course I don't know what is available in every state but in the places I have lived the do offer free things like job hunting and interviewing skills. They might have job postings. These companies are generally friendly to people that have looking and we are not talking mcdonalds either. The federal govt offers some money for retraining in another field. I took advantage of this years ago to finish my last year of college. Also, the library should have a copy of "what color is your parachute" which I assume is still updated yearly.

I know what it is like to be frustrated looking. It's hard to be motivated but maybe at least one or two of these ideas will help.
been there done that. that money to be retrained in another field is still another set of hoops to go through. i went through those programs: workshops after workshops, career counselors, etc i had to do research on 3 different training schools and i was suppose to turn it back in then you gotta wait 4-6 weeks for a yea or nay approval by the state - this isn't free money they are handing out to people to pay for their retraining.

i never went back it is commute takes me 2 freeways to get there and back. however, i was told i could get a scholarship from the women's center to pay for it but i am not in the predicament to do that at the moment.
