I've been coming to this site for 2 years, I've been seeing therapists for 1 and a half. I've never mentioned this to any of my therapists. I know we often rely on therapy as something to lean on, but sometimes you have to take matter into your own hands. Not everything they say will work for you. But I can understand where they are coming from about the alcohol thing. My therapist flat out told me she had to give up on someone who was an alcoholic. I'm not an alcoholic, just suffer from depression, although, I've actually not been depressed for about 1 week so far, right after I completely went off all of my meds. And my therapist hasn't given up on me yet, I guess you can say "knock on wood"; I see her this afternoon.
