I've never had psych meds cause another mental health problem but I have had psych meds that helped me uncover another mental health problem. For instance, I was put on anafranil for OCD/anxiety and that helped. With my OCD out of the way, I realized that it was not the sole contributor to my lack of focus and so I was then evaluated for ADHD.
