I go through that too. And yes, the first thing is that I needed was to get the sleep thing back on a regular track. Also, I discovered through therapy, that I go into a dissociated state as a defense mechanism against the emotions that seems too intense. I would get so irritated with myself when I would go numb like this, but my therapist taught me to use it as an indicator that I needed to pay attention to myself and care for myself.
