I discovered Melancholia about a year back. It's about the final days on Earth before a rogue extrasolar planet crashes into it, but much more so it's about how two sisters cope differently.
The music was changed for copyright reasons, but I think it's just as haunting. The film really plays on that feeling of despair, apathy...and of morbid satisfaction in taking everything that caused it with you.

OH! You mean depressing movies?! Melancholia is pretty great, Kirsten Dunst does a great job. Very moody filming by Lars von Trier. Loved it. I try not to watch this type of film when very down. It usually takes me to a darker place.
I thought you were going to ask for movies to watch when you are depressed, to cheer you up!
I am an old movie fan, so Dinner At Eight with Lionel Barrymore & Jean Harlow is a great one.
Current movies? Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller & Kristen Wiig. It cheered me right up. I needed to get away from the current trend of dystopian films so this was a nice change. Not usually a fan of Ben Stiller, but he pulled it off this time, IMO.
Sorry if this is off topic, I couldn't resist
