Have you ever heard of the TIPP skills in DBT therapy? They are used to quell intense urges.
T: intense temperature - place an ice pack over your eyes for a few minutes
I: intense exercise - do intense exercise for 10 minutes
P: paced breathing - notice your breath, take a deep breath in and slowly exhale
P: progressive muscle relaxation - you can do it by yourself, do a guided meditation, or do a muscle relaxation CD
They always work pretty well for me, and are a good distraction. They actually help change your physiology, so the urges become less intense. I'm actually off for some exercise right now... good luck!
