Check with your health care provider to see which therapists in your area are covered. Make some appointments, try some of them out, see if you can find someone you like. Hospitalization is a last resort - if you think you are going to harm yourself and won't be able to stop it, definitely visit an ER. Other than that, unfortunately, I've found many hospitals ill suited to treat or diagnose mental disorders. They're more of a 'catch' for emergencies - I'm not saying all hospitals are like this or that no one there would be able to help you, but I would suggest your best bet is finding someone who is well qualified and experienced, and who you also get along with (very important in a therapist!).
Don't be discouraged if you can't find a good one right away - there are a lot of incompetent workers out there, but also a lot of good ones. Find a good match and go from there. You've made it this far
