When my thermostat is set on 'heat' it sometimes will kick on 'auxillary heat' to use the heat strips to increase the temperature of air it ventilates. I can choose to set it on 'emergency heat' and then it uses the heat strips continuously (as I understand it).

When the outside temperature was in the single digits my interior temperature was staying about 62 degrees F. Now that we have a heat wave and outside temps are 32 the interior temp is 68.
