I've been seeing flashes and shadows and even heard scratching. I believe in spirits and ghosts and all of that. Who's to say its psychosis and not spirits? Furthermore why trust a psychiatrist that doesn't believe in the afterlife therefore the afterlife couldn't be a possibility in his thought process when assessing his/her patient.
