My son has been diagnosed BiPolar and PTSD. He is 40 years old. I know his life was stressful. Can a person develop BiPolarI at any age. He is a very intelligent person. High School valedictorian, Honors College graduate, Nurse. Tells me that he never wants to talk with me ever again. I am at a loss. I know I can't make him talk to me, but his life is a mess. One of my concerns is his wife, who is mentally unstable. I "know" this is the mother-in-law talking, but she has been diagnosed for years. They have been married for more than 10 years. I'm afraid that if he continues to be with her, that he will never be any better. Just "venting" I guess, need to let go, but find that hard to do. I love my son and I don't want him to suffer. Mostly, I guess, I need help learning to let go.
