maybe... tell him that you like him. you don't have to tell him how MUCH you like him. but if you tell him that you like him then it is up to him whether he wants to say he likes you too... or whether he just wants to be friends.

if he just wants to be friends... then it can be a little awkward for a time. part of it will be you sussing out what he makes of you now (whether he will act differently towards you) and part of it will be him sussing out what you make of him now (whether you will act differently towards him). the best thing you can do in those circumstances is to act as much like you used to as possible and things will come right in a little bit of time...

as they say 'nothing risked nothing gained'.

if you are really good friends then he most probably won't want to lose your friendship so unless you go all weird on him...

alternatively... the more indirect route... (much favoured by me)... would be to invite him to the movies or something where it is just the two of you. i figure... if someone is interested then they will figure that you are interested at some point. you can kind of send out subtle signals... if you don't register an interest from them then in my experience that is the same as a 'i really like you as a friend, but' kind of a response. but i guess it might be tricky to convey that if there is embarrassment and stuff like that...
