The 1970s TV show I remember (and still love) is The Muppet Show. I never liked Sesame Street (it wasn't shown in Sweden, I think, so I was in my teens when I encountered it) but the Muppet Show was actually pretty brilliant. I've watched it on DVD recently and it really stands the test of time.
