I have found that medical care in Alberta has been superior to what I could access in Ontario (grew up in Whitby and went to Trent before moving out here). The wait times don't even seem as bad as they are there. We lived in Peterborough for a year after my dad died, it was so hard to get any mental health assistance.
Ontario needs oil. The province is broke.

Mental health services provided by hospitals are usually hard to access unless you are psychotic. There are so many services for those people but hardly anything for non-psychotic disorders. I think other illnesses are being neglected.

Community based services are a lot quicker to get into than hospital based services. I get all my mental healthcare in the community and am satisfied with the service I get. It is far more superior than the psychiatric outpatient clinic I used to go to at the hospital.

I was really lucky to get a psychiatric appointment in two weeks. It would have been worse if I had to go to a hospital. Most people wait 6 to 9 months.
