Honestly the best thing to do is probably not to beat yourself up over it. From my understanding these sorts of mistakes are pretty common among people, even those without any kind of mental condition.

If someone brings it up you can always just say you made a mistake and got the name wrong and tell them the correct name of the author. I think its much more likely people would realize you made a simple error not assume you're an idiot.
