I know exactly how you feel. I sometimes feel like an aemeba---you know that one-celled creature we learn about in biology in high school. I'm floating in the ethers of the atmosphere and occasionally collide with someone who might say hello, share a meal with, have a chat with, or just make eye contact with.
I think Wegoji is right---people are just too busy or stuck to their computers, tablets or phones.
It's just very hard to tell in life who are real friends, who are users, and who are just activity buddies. Good luck---you will be able to figure it out.
