Developing then sustaining motivation in depression are at best difficult and sometimes impossible (my experience).
Fragile habits, semi-rigid scheduling, and inertia are tools that sometimes work for me. All of those break down, though, especially if I'm ill or don't get enough good-quality sleep.

My dog  mastered the "fetch" command. He would communicate he wanted something, and I would fetch it.
