Hi Moose,
For me, I see my psychologist for therapy and that is every two weeks. I refuse to do group therapy, and this is okay. I see my pdoc every 3-5 months unless I am unstable and need med adjustments.
I am a lot more honest and open with my t. I am just friendly with my pdoc, and only tell her concerns that the t asks me to share-or sometimes I use my own judgement on this.
I find it confusing that your pdoc did not schedule some type of evaluation to determine your current status. My providers both did their own testing when I began with them even though they were provided my records from other places.
Are the pdoc and therapists in the same group/practice? I would call and voice concerns with the pdoc either over the phone or through another appointment.
Maybe philosophies are different in other places, but here the pdocs I have worked with have encouraged me to attend therapy as part of my treatment plan. The same goes for my son.
I hope that you are able to get answers to your questions soon.
