That's generally how it's done for me. I didn't know this was unusual. Normally my Pdoc will schedule the next appointment himself at the end of a session, unless he has to rush off somewhere in which case he'll leave instructions with the receptionist. If I have to reschedule, I usually get put through to his rooms, if he's able to take the call, or a message is left for him and either he rings me back or one of the receptionists or other Psychs do.
