I've only know about my DID/MPD for about a year now. Some of my alters talked to my friends and told them before I knew. But the weird thing is, I can communicate with my alters; there's no blacking out or major time lapses. I still forget the majority of what happens in my life besides major events. Most of what I know if from pictures or stories people tell me. I have some memories if I make myself think real hard but it's difficult and fuzzy.
My alters, of which I have 11 that I know of, mostly aim to protect me. They all have names and unique personalities, some of which I know I would never ever be like independently. My head is kind of different though. I kind of designed a mansion inside my head where all my alters and I think and... They've got different appearances from my physical body. I know it sounds weird but we're all on the same site you know?
Is there anyone else out there that can communicate and visualize their alters? I'd love to hear from you (:
