I have recurrent moderate-to-severe depression, and I found CBT to be utterly useless. Even the guy who wrote the book (Dr. Burns and the ever-popular "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy") said it works best on people with mild depression -- which I've never had.
It does sound like it would be useful for OCD, though.
