Its still change, and you've had it so long I'm sure its akin to having very long hair your whole life, and then being forced to cut it off due to medical reasons. It doesn't change your life, but its a change nonetheless, and that's the part that's unsettling...

This is when I'm glad when the band aide option is available. Do it quick and adjust to it later, I think sometimes slow transitioning just prolongs my agony.

You'll be ok, sure you'll have a new scar instead of a tube but now you can make up interesting stories about how someone tried to steal an organ once and laugh at people's facial expressions.
