Abilify is category C in the United States. However, Latuda (lurasidone) is category B, and recently it was FDA approved for the treatment of bipolar depression. Dr. John just did a write up about it earlier this month,
here.
I give Latuda two thumbs up because it has a very low side effect profile. I recommend taking it at night, with a snack, 1 to 3 hours prior to bedtime, as in many it can help initiate sleep. Ambien and the other prescription sleep aids are category C.
