I use the gummy bear method. Which is essentially scattering gummy bears across the page and reading up to a section and then you get to eat the gummy. I agree with mazing though I take notes on every section and I've found it helpful to highlight and underline important sections to keep my focus on the page. Like Perna said, there are definitely better times during the day to do this. I tend to do work inbetween classes as I find it hard to focus in my apartment. Good luck!
