With all this talk about confidentiality and such it has me thinking. Since I work is a relatively small area (in Maine) it is kind of like one of those situations where everybody knows each other. Since I work in the Psych unit and my T is also in the same city we occasionally run across mutual patients. I know they are her clients because I answer the phones and send follow up information to providers. Neither of us mention the mutual client and fortunately, we RARELY see her clients. However she has called the unit on behalf the the mutual person. It makes it uncomfortable as I feel like I have to treat her very professionally like I do other callers..even though we know each other on such a different level. Also occasionally in a session she will mention thing about other clients..usually in the context of explaining to me that what I am feeling is normal. She never mentions any identifiers so I have no idea who she is talking about. Once though when talking the dysfunction of the health care system in the US. She mentioned red tape one of her clients was going through which would require her to switch T's. Again she gave no identifying information except that we had just had that patient and had to find her that new T. OOPS...not sure the point of the thread other than just thinking how hard it must be for them
