I believe the same principal applies here as it would for any situation. The past is the past for a reason, you need to look forward and think of how to be the better person that you want to be now. Try not to worry so much about who you've been and if you can, try to correct some of the mistakes you've made or rebuild relationships you currently desire. I know it sounds like simple advice but it's the best place to start. Everyone has something they feel regret/guilt about and you cannot change what happened then. You can however change what happens now and in the future.
