Back when I was able to partake (don't/can't do so now), it was absolutely right for me. I am extremely high-energy in real life, and it slows me down to a more moderate pace, allowing me to reflect more instead of barrelling through. Is tremendous for generation of creative ideas. I think it's a shame that our government has so recently banned it because in my opinion, it can be very effective for some people. It's only in the past 50-60 years that it was made illegal in the US, and it wasn't due to health concerns but rather political agendas.
Smoking ANYTHING is unhealthy, but there are alternatives for that as well.
One important thing to note is that it is proven to have an irreversible effect on some aspects of the developing brain. I can't cite my reference right now (am typing on my cell phone while on the bus), but I understand that prior to age 25, it is much more harmful than as an adult.
If it were legal, I'd advocate it for adults as a controlled substance OR as purely and occasionally recreational. I don't agree with self-medication via ANY substance.
