Well, I would tell them about the shots. But tell them that there are concerns because you feel you are too much medicine and the side effects are making it hard to function. Let them know you're compliant taking your haldol at home, too, and that when you talk about the side effects no one is listening. I mean, if you go into it with the attitude of a responsible patient, I think you'll get a better response. Also, don't project your anxiety of what you think they are thinking into their heads. Everyone is different, and there are doctors out there who will listen.

I think your dad just wants you to be well. But, if you show him you can make decisions like this and continue working toward being well, then it will be good for both of you.
