I am happy to report that such incidents have not been happening to me for many months already. I bought a rack with hooks and placed it on the inside of the apartment door. On one of the hooks is the laundry room key on a long lanyard, so that I can wear it as a pendant and have my hands free for carrying the laundry. One another hook is my regular key chain. The rest of the hooks are for jackets. Simple and convenient!
