Most folks here know that I have a pretty dim view about the use of SSRI type drugs in bpII, due to own experience. They can cause mania/hypomania in bipolar...like your anxiety maybe?

I have always had good luck with Xanax. I have taken small amounts as needed, and it took care of my anxiety just fine. I am in no way addicted (I've just finished a bottle of 90 that I got a year ago).

Sadly, the clinic I go to now will not prescribe benzodiazipines, so I have to take hydroxizne. It's actually an antihistamine, but it does OK, sort of...better than nothing, anyway.

If you want to learn about AD's and bipolar, check out www,psycheducation.org. Dr. Jim Phelps has a bunch of stuff there.

Good luck!
