Don't know who he is but I think he is probably talking in context of acquaintances. Is he competitive? It sounds kind of like something a competitive person would say. Or maybe it is really about people who over talk them. You know the ones I've been guilty.

There was a challenge on one of my favorite podcasts with a mother that said there are some subjects you should never, never bring up in convo with group such as a dinner or other social event. So the reporters went out to get an example for a particular subject that they would vote on as good or not. I can't remember them off the top of my head. Dreams was definitely one of them.
