If med's are what you are seeking. I would try 1st for a benzo - something like Klonapin is along lasting benzo.

The pdoc could alos try a mood stabilizer such as lamictal/depacote (sp) with a antidepressant to lower the risk of mania/psychosis. I am very sensitive to SSRi's they make me manic but I am bipolar - so I have to take with a mood stabilizer.

None med approach many suggested some great things. Certain foods and or exercise can help bump up serotonin levels. Try tweaking your diet around and take a 20-30 min walk a day and see how that goes.
