Perhaps your Pdoc can refer you to a physician? Or even to a specialist? I think you should start by documenting when these feelings and incidents occur, tracing back to when you first noticed them and any patterns you've spotted. That can really help diagnose your problem. If there is damage done, it's very important to know so you can get treated. Even if it turns out to be minor or nothing, it is worth checking out!

Since it interferes with your life, please talk about it with someone who can physically help you!

As for coping, try drawing the positives from having this setback. For me, I usually roll my eyes when someone tells me to be optimistic in a hard situation, so what helps me is physically writing down what I'm grateful for. Like not having done more damage with the drug abuse and doing your best to recover from it. As long as you can truly acknowledge that you are doing your best, be content.

And try not to be too hard on yourself, let the fighting be in the past.

Good luck!
