Hi folks, I'm coming a little late to this particular discussion but here's one that we had on the same subject several years ago, soon after I'd first figured it out:

Since I wrote that, I've learned that a lot of people use the WYSIWYG editor instead of the text editor that I was using, so those examples may not look like anything you see on your screen. If I'm doing anything the least bit tricky (like learning to work with quotes

), I prefer to use the text editor so I can see if I'm ending up with any stray tags or anything. To switch back and forth between the two kinds of editors, just click on the button that looks like this:
You'll find it in the upper right corner of whatever editor you're using. For instance (this one happens to be the "advanced mode" editor):
