I've just graduated from college with a BS in biology and psychology, and have started my first "real" job. I'm a lab assistant in a biology lab. It sounds like it should be interesting work, but I mostly do the same thing everyday. I think the hardest part is the fact that it is 8 solid hours of doing the same thing; at least classes in college were limited to an hour and fifteen minutes!
I feel really guilty because I find myself checking facebook very fifteen minutes just to do something different. I'm "working" right now. I know that it is wrong to do things other than work at work.
I'm scared that all jobs will be like this. I hope to go to med school. What if I put forth all the effort to become a doctor, just to be bored with it? Anything that involves a lot of time tends to bore me-long lab sessions in college, my new job, I even find it difficult to watch movies because most are 2 hours long. I have ADHD, so maybe that's why I get bored so easily.
What can I do to make the 8 hours go by faster, and give my boss the time and effort he deserves?
