No sleep was not the issue. I was taking abiliffy Effexor and a low dose of Remeron. We got rid of abiliffy and added lamictal because I was cycling rapidly in and out of depression. A month of depression than a week of feeling good. Lamictal is a mood stabilizer for bi polar but is now being prescribed for mdd. Not sure if it is approved or off label. It is supposed to help with rapid cycling in mdd. I have cycled my whole life, usually three real bad ones a year. Now they are deeper more severe and last much longer, in the last five years anyway. And added anxiety and paranoia when real bad. Now this rapid cycling. The nature of my disease is changing as I get older. Sleep problems didn't start until lamictal. When I am in a real severe depression nothing works. It just has to run its cycle. That has always been the case anyway. I have been doing much better overall since starting lamictal.
