Depends on the dosage. I am very sensitive to meds, so for me, I have .25 mg of xanax, and I can take up to 4 pills as needed (totaling 1mg) I often start with 1/4-1/2 of a .25 mg pill and that takes me down. I've only needed to take a full mg a few times, and that totally knocks me out.
