I get a racing mind and intrusive thoughts but I don't feel that things outside are going faster than normal.

First of all I would speak to my doctor to find out what's going on.

Can you practise relaxation every day? Find at least 20 minutes in your day to completely relax.

Also when your mind starts to race try practising mindfulness to slow it down. Stay in the moment and try to name what you can see, smell, taste, hear and feel in that moment. Do it slowly and talk slowly to yourself whilst breathing deeply.
