I believe it is actually the meds that cause it. Effexor which I have taken the most has always messed up my sleep but I adapt to it and it is ok. SSRI's are known to cause it. Right now I think it is because I started taking Lamictal. The problem started as soon as I started taking it, was getting better until I upped dose to 100mg which is where pdoc was getting me up to. I felt horrible all day today because of it.
The past is really hard to say because I drank and drugged so much and never had trouble with sleep. Slept like a baby my whole life. But I got clean and sober and started taking meds for depression at exactly the same time. So it is hard to say. I do know depression causes circadian rythyms to get messed up. When I am in a severe depression I sleep all day and stay up watching tv most of the night. It slowly gets turned around backassward.
