My psychiatrist has said that no matter how hard it is for me to actually sleep, I am supposed to lie in bed for at least 8 hours every night (since I'm supposed to get that much sleep). Even if I wake up at any point, or am struggling to go back to sleep, I lie in bed until my alarm goes off. Sometimes I practice deep breathing and/or mindfulness. That can help calm me down. At other times, I'll sneak in an extra clonazepam
