Hello, I am new to this site, & hopefully someone can help me.
I have been going to a psychiatrist for several years now, to get help with depression / anxiety.
The doctor limits me to a 15 minute session every few months, which are not nearly long enough, then gives me a script for two meds. which help little to not at all.
The reason that I say 15 minutes is not nearly long enough, is because this doctor does not have the full scope of my past history, which dates back over 40 years & how long I have been having problems, including family history.
This is the second doctor in as many years, & they don't seem to care.
I recently got laid off from my job, & my anxiety / depression has intensified.
If I did not have a wife to emotionally support me, I doubt I would be alive.
My question is, are there any other professionals out there other than a psychiatrist, who can write scripts for meds., & would take more than 15 minutes to get to know me & some of my history?
If I went to a psychologist, can they write scripts for meds.?
I lost my insurance, yet I do have some money to pay for services.
I am just sick of psychiatrist who don't really care.
Thanks for any help.
