I have an appointment with my psychiatrist this Thursday. Technically you get 10 to 15 minutes tops with her to discuss how you're doing on your medications and any concerns you have. That is MAX. Usually she tries to have me out sooner than that. If I try to discuss issues or meds and if I repeat myself, she doesn't like it and mentions not to repeat. If I mention something that is going on that is not related to the meds at all, she mentions about that and let's go back to the meds you are taking right now. I'm in and back outta there so fast my head could spin. If someone, or some insurance company, whatever, is paying big bucks for a 10 minute max psychiatrist who seems to lecture a person at every corner, what is a person supposed to do? She is the only one they give me for this clinic/hospital. I'm always nervous when I go see her. She gets several patients in one day and I feel she just pushes them along.

Oh, and back to you, I am glad you are thinking of a second opinion by seeing another psychiatrist. I know from past experience that when they switched by psychiatrist because one was retiring, they played in different ball fields and didn't speak the same way about things.
