People don't have to exist for you to feel connected to them That's the most amazing parts about stories because you resonate with different characters and go on adventures with them. The imagination combined with words and other storytelling forms is a powerful thing. I have definitely cried over the loss of a fictional character. If anything, even though it hurts try to savor it. It means they meant something special to you and that's fabulous.
