I have never met with a school counselor...but you always have the right to say that you will meet face to face when you are ready. Anyone worth their salt will understand.

If I was in your position...I would start out saying what you did here....that simply emailing has taken a tremendous amount of effort and bravery and you don't know how to start.....
Please let us know, if you feel comfortable, how you are received there...(warmly or it was a no go...)
