I have always had obsessions with certain people and the things connected to those people. In the past, I had a huge obsession with Ruthie Henshall, which eventually translated into an obsession with all things musical theatre and particularly Sondheim (whom I still adore). Then when I "outgrew" this obsession, I became fixated on Law and Order, particularly on one of the lawyers on the show, who I was so obsessed with that I manipulated my father into taking me to New York at a time when I knew she'd be filming and hung out on the set for literally eleven hours just to watch her.

When I was a kid, I also had obsessions with American Girl, Neopets, and Yu-Gi-Oh, and a peculiar fixation with sorting things, particularly names, and grouping them into piles.

Does anyone have more than one obsession at the same time? I find that obsessions are generally too time-consuming for there to be multiples, but as I get older, the obsessions are becoming less intense so I can sustain several things I am super, super interested in at the same time. These days I would say the closest thing I have to an obsession is Judith Butler, but even that isn't nearly as intense as anything I've had in the past; it's just something I happen to be incredibly interested and know a lot about.
