My PTSD doesn't get triggered on these forums. I guess it is just from the training I had in my former career. I tend to read things here with a more clinical distance. I feel sympathy and empathy but I see the situations or feelings of the posters as being their own. Even when they sometimes mirror my own, I am able to separate the fact that it is their own journey and I don't need to personalize it to my experience in order to try to be helpful.

I have had one time in which I got really angry/upset about what someone posted. That was when someone outright attacked me (cursing and saying that I had no idea what it was like to suffer from a certain disorder) in a thread that I started. It is only when someone is making their feelings of anger or sadness about me that I get triggered. Even then I realize that they are apparently suffering and are lashing out at anyone or everyone.
