Social Security denies almost everyone the first time they apply, in hopes that they will die or give up. that's why there are so many lawyer sharks in the waters. the amount of fraud in Disability is very small, ditto with food stamps and other benefits. 5% of the people commit 99% of the fraud. and that's barely 2% of the total budget.
it seems that americans just love to be scared; if they can't get it in real life, they'll go to the movies~
yes, Social Security hopes you will find some job you can do~! they will even help you, thru the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (look in the phone book). but if you are not managing your condition yet, in 3 yrs, you will just need at least 2 doctors to say so.... life goes on. you can even try to work, for 8 months and keep your SocSec.D.I. (SSI is different).
good luck learning all about such a complex system,,, but try not to freak out, just be sure to return all requested papers in the time allowed (usually 30 days), or call to see if you can get an extension (but don't count on it). i'm glad you were approved, and have this time to focus on your own healing~!
best wishes~
