I'm all for sticking them on a remote island with no vegetation and just paying for guards all around in boats so they cannot escape, or if they do, there are lots of sharks to eat them.....

I know it may sound harsh, but it would save $$ in prisons and they can just kill and eat eachother. No second chances either, none.
