"Regular" people sometimes have a difficult time with MI issues in their friends or relatives. Why should she be held to a higher standard? Suicide is rarely solely because of something someone else did. It's a selfish act. I don't know how close they were but as half siblings it seems hard to believe JR would intentionally control her so totally. So I think the likelihood there were shame, depression and self esteem issues is very high. And yes, there should be more support in most families but I see that as a disjunction in our society. People are involved in their own stuff, insecurities, shame. Someone that concerned about weight as JR is portrayed to be is in shame. Not surprising at all. Most women are let alone celebrities. Sadly it often takes something like this to wake up family members. Believe me she is probably experiencing grief and guilt over this. I honestly have not watched this story unfold but I think the press should concentrate on the fact that it can happen in many families. That won't sell ads however.

On the subject of winning an oscar I am really disappointed in cate blanchard's speech. I don't mind that she won... She shouldn't be penalized for woody Allen but I don't think she should have made so many accolades about him. I didn't see it but I read that the audience was less than warm. Maybe the tide is turning where woody Allen is concerned. Allen is surely an example of ego and power at work.
